Originally when I started writing my post long weekend blog I had intended to write a post about how to get back on track after a weekend of indulgence. This is a cycle that I usually go through after a holiday where I am out of my routine, away from home and my usual lifestyle. It’s a cycle of: I was away, eat and drank treats, didn’t practice or work out as much as I “should”, and then enter feelings of guilt.
Let me take this opportunity to BREAK THE CYCLE. Yes being healthy is about making good choices in regards to diet and exercise, but its also about balance. Balance is about more than just letting loose once in awhile. It’s about living fully and savouring all the experiences life has to offer, but without feeling guilty that you are doing it. So I will commit to taking in those experiences, to sipping my wine, to giant slip and slides, to chicago mix, to giggles and bedtime hugs and kisses with my babies in the boler. I will allow myself the space to practice beach yoga and SUP Yoga if it feels right but also to lay in the grass and just soak up the sun if thats what I prefer. To listen to my heart to do what feels right, to connect to myself and the ones I love.
SO if you are like me and enjoyed your weekend and all of the wonderful experiences that came up, I salute you. Tonight I go to sleep with a full heart. Tomorrow wake up back in my bed and my routine but without guilt. I will however have memories of the experience of this beautiful (even with the rain) weekend to enjoy and cherish always. I hope you do the same.
